US Premier Tube Mills (USPTM) is a leading and growing domestic supplier of residential galvanized and powder coated pipe dedicated to quality, on-time delivery, and excellent customer service.

USPTM has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager in Madison, IN.

The Purchasing Manager will master orders, POs, material transfers, stock inventory, and cycle counting. This position will play a key role in implementing and managing the inventory management system for internal material transfers and successful buying programs.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:          

  • Provide leadership, management, and accountability for direct reports
  • Develop and maintain an internal material transfer process that maximizes the use of buying and discount programs
  • Develop and execute savings programs through purchasing and efficiency improvements
  • Update and maintain pricing in the Inventory Management System
  • Negotiate with vendors to achieve the most beneficial terms
  • Work with vendors and internal teams on continuous improvements including maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and Visual Work Instructions
  • Coordinate with all offices on product safety thresholds and lead times to reduce all delays in the final distribution of material
  • Assist in the facilitation of cycle and year-end inventory counts
  • Promote and participate in continuous education opportunities, culture, and engagement improvements
  • Provide excellent customer service by having a professional and positive attitude in all interactions with external and internal customers
  • Maintain appropriate levels of staffing and proactively recommend changes as needed

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis

 Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Actively engages in all applicable training opportunities for safety and this position
  • Excellent communication with customers, vendors, and internal team members as required
  • Strong negotiation skills as well as the ability to establish effective business relationships
  • Utilize applicable computer resources to complete essential business functions
  • Team Leadership skills with abilities to effectively guide team members and encourage continuous improvement
  • Manage time and attendance for assigned direct reports
  • Participate in department leadership meetings, scorecard updates, and long-term improvement projects

Physical Demands:
  This job requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk on the production floor.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
  This is a full-time position Monday through Friday; some overtime may be required.
